ABOUT THE ROLE
The Marketing Manager drives marketing strategy for all YBCA presented programming, while serving as lead for cross-channel marketing efforts. The manager plays a key role in achieving broader awareness of YBCA’s programming and events. Success in this position demands excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as a results orientation and abilities to collaborate, multi-task, and effectively prioritize.
Principal Responsibilities
Programming
- Partner with Director of Marketing and Communications to develop and execute marketing strategies for all programming developed by YBCA including Public Programs, Visual Arts exhibitions, Performing Arts and related contextual programs.
- Play a key role as a member of the content strategy team to create rich content and compelling narratives to deploy across owned properties that attracts target audiences to YBCA programming.
- Work with Audience Growth Manager and Data Insights Manager to evaluate the effectiveness of these plans and iterate on the strategy to maximize impact.
Media Buying/Advertising
- Responsible for negotiating and executing all advertising campaigns including print, digital, and media sponsorships in support of YBCA programming.
- Manage advertising calendar to ensure consistent messaging, optimized timing, and placement.
Writing
- Develop, write, and/or edit external communications materials including advertisements, web copy, brochures, programs, and other marketing collateral as needed.
- Be responsible for ensuring accuracy in information and proofreading.
General
- Support the Director of Marketing and Communications with decision making/troubleshooting, as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with at least 3+ years of professional experience in marketing, communications, advertising, or journalism or similar experience.
- Nonprofit or arts experience preferred or a plus
- Proven success with project management from kick-off to completion.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, along with demonstrated success with managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Knowledge of print production and managing printer/mailhouse relations
- Excellent written and copy-proofing kills, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Diplomacy, tact, integrity, flexibility, patience, sense of humor, team orientation and the ability to negotiate and compromise to find viable solutions.
- Proven interpersonal skills a must.
- Experience working effectively in partnership with people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Knowledge of G-Suite and/or Microsoft Office, project management apps, and all major social media platforms.
- Experience with Wordpress, HTML, Google AdWords, and Adobe Creative Suite is desirable but not required.
- Knowledge of, or strong interest in, the realms of contemporary art, civic engagement, and social responsibility.
- Willingness to work alongside contemporary works of art and performances which present challenging and provocative subject matter.
