Animator
You are an expert animator with excellent working knowledge of Unreal Engine 4 and its animation pipelines. We are San Diego Studio, a passionate team within the PlayStation family who provides world-class content, development, and services to our PlayStation fans. Our studio is made up of game industry professionals and we are looking for a highly-motivated and creative animator to join the team.
In this role you will collaborate with a versatile team of 3D artists, C++ programmers, and other Unreal developers and designers to build fluid, life-like animations. You will get the chance to demonstrate your knowledge of animation principles and character motions through a blend of key-frame animation and motion capture.

Requirements
- Build high-quality third-person combat animations, human ambient animation and creature animations, craft and edit conversations and cinematic sequences, and create dialog and facial expression animations.
- You will set up camera animation and framing for gameplay and in-game cinematic sequences, animate weapons, vehicles, and other non-character assets, and implement animations in Unreal Engine, using tools such as the animation blueprint system, blend spaces and animation montages.
- You will team up with the artists and engineers to establish and refine the animation pipeline, and track and maintain animation status throughout development.
Skills
- 4+ years' industry experience
- Advanced knowledge of Maya or equivalent software
- Experience implementing animations in UE4
- Experience with gameplay and character animation, setup, rigging and skinning
- Experience with animation state machines
- A deep understanding of animation pipelines and the processes involved from concept to in-game implementation
- Keen understanding of animation production pipelines for character animation, motion capture animation, and technical animation
- You will work closely with multiple departments, including but not limited to Motion Capture, Rigging, Animation, Art, and Production teams.
- You will share your work for feedback, and offer productive opinions while evaluating the work of others
- Open and available to build a strong rapport with leads, supervisors, and technical artists to maintain and improve data quality
- Be flexible to changes in direction, yet work within defined procedures
Bonus Skills
- Motionbuilder and HIK pipeline experience.
- Understanding of at least one source control system, such as Perforce Ability to work well on a small team in a fluid, dynamic environment Exposure to Agile Scrum.
